- The Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue is restricting visitors. The new guidelines include the suspension of visitors to the emergency department and hospitalized visitors are limited to one person per day. Everyone eligible under the new policy must be vaccinated or bring a negative COVID-19 test. (Patch Patch)
- Second fire reported on New Years Day at a house in East Patchogue. The second fire started in the garage of a house on Washington Avenue. This was the second fire in the area in about 18 hours. The cause of the fire was not immediately available to the police. (Room)
- Marky Ramone to perform at Patchogue Theater for the Performing Arts. Ramones fans will be able to see drummer Marky Ramone on an interactive show called “WORDS: My Life as a Ramone” on February 5 at 8 pm. Tickets are available at the theater window or click on the link to buy online. (Groups in town)
- News nearby: Driver killed in frontal crash at Central Islip. Suffolk Police are investigating a fatal head-on collision that killed a man in Central Islip on January 2. A man was driving a Toyota Camry westbound on West Suffolk Avenue when his vehicle passed oncoming traffic and collided with a Ford Mustang, driven by Fernando Cordero, head-on in front of 101 West Suffolk Ave. Police say the Toyota driver was taken to a Bay Shore hospital where he was pronounced dead. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this accident to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352. (Islip Bulletin)
