Carol Lee Darwin Obituary (1987 – 2021) – Louisville, KY

Carol Lee Darwin, 34, daughter, mother and beloved wife, passed away suddenly at home on December 21, 2021. Carol was a beautiful and devoted wife to her husband, Robert Darwin, an amazing, playful, loving and loving mother. brighter lights. of the lives of his parents, Laura and Sam Pollock, and Robert Belcher.
Carol was born July 7, 1987 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. After graduating from Sacred Heart Academy in 2005, Carol continued her studies at Indiana University Southeast with a double major in International Studies – Asian Studies and Political Science in 2009, with her main thesis published at Indiana University. Undergraduate Journal. Living with a medical family, Carol realized that her true potential lay in nursing. She graduated from the BSN Accelerated Program at the University of Bellarmine in 2013. Carol decided to deepen her knowledge as a nurse practitioner. the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, Beta Epsilon Chapter. As an ambitious student, Carol went on to earn her Graduate Certificate in Nurse Practitioner in Adult Gerontology and Nursing from Duke University School of Nursing, with Distinction, in 2018. Carol was Dual Certified in Primary Care for adults and in gerontology. Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and Certified Emergency Nurse. Determined as always in her pursuit of graduate school, Carol was expected to graduate from Duke University’s Doctor of Nursing program next spring with a GPA of 3.98. She was very proud of this educational achievement.
Carol was employed by Louisville Emergency Medical Associates and most recently worked as Director of APRNs and PAs in the Observation Unit at Baptist Health Louisville. Previously, she worked for the University of Kentucky Critical Care. Carol was an Assistant Instructor at Galen Nursing School and NCLEX Instructor for Kaplan. Prior to obtaining her MSN, she worked as a registered nurse in the pediatric intensive care unit at Norton Children’s and in the surgical department at Baptist Health Louisville.
Carol was a highly respected professional in her field. She received the 2021 American Association of Nurse Practioners’ State Award for Excellence Kentucky Nurse Practitioner Advocate of the Year. This award is given to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the awareness and recognition of nurse practitioners. In November 2021, Carol was selected to participate in Governor Andy Beshear’s proclamation presentation to make November 7-13 Nurse Practitioner Week. Additionally, Carol has served as president-elect of the Kentucky Association of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Midwives and served on the APRN board of the Governor-appointed Kentucky Board of Nursing. Carol was also a member of the Healthy Kentucky Foundation’s Health Equity Working Group and an active participant in the Equity Learning Cohort and a board member of the Diversity Equity Committee. and the inclusion of the Foundation. She was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the Foundation for a Healthy KY Community Advisory Council. Duke University has chosen Carol to represent the Duke University School of Nursing as a member of the Duke Health Center for Inter-Professional Education and Care group.
This year Carol received the highest civilian honor the Governor of Kentucky can bestow, the title of Colonel of Kentucky. In addition to her professional accolades, Carol was crowned Miss Kentucky International 2013. Carol was previously a model and actress prior to her professional career.
Above all of her many accomplishments, Carol cherished her beautiful family. She was deeply connected with her best friend, husband and soul mate, Robert. Together they had their adorable children, Carter and Luna, whom she absolutely adored. Carol was such a loving mother, determined to teach kindness, tolerance, and patience, all wrapped up in fun. His unlimited love for his family knew no bounds. It still amazes us how Carol was able to balance everything she’s pursued, yet still be the kind, passionate, hilariously-minded, engaging and generous soul that she was. Not a day would go by without talking to her parents who cherished her. A dynamic selfless person with hundreds of friendships, Carol has helped anyone in need. Carol was a prolific reader of literature, passing this passion on to her children. She enjoyed the fun things in life with her friends and family, movies, gardening, Sailor Moon, cooking, crafts, anime, electronic dance music, camping, her dogs, home decor. vacation, play pokemon and video games with your kids and all those shoes and handbags!
Carol will be sadly missed by all who loved her. His memory will remain etched in our hearts forever.
Carol is survived by husband Robert Darwin, son Carter and daughter Luna, parents Laura and Sam Pollock, and Robert Belcher, as well as siblings Courtney McCarty (Justin), Evan Belcher (Jeni), Robert Pollock (Nikki) and Ian Pollock. She is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Barbara Carter and John Olson and Donald and Betty Swann Belcher.
Visitations will be on December 29, 2021 from 1 pm to 7 pm at Pearson Funeral Home, 149 Breckenridge Lane in St. Matthews, with a nightingale tribute for nurses at 6:30 pm A candlelight memorial service will be held at Pearson Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Carol Lee Darwin Memorial Scholarship Fund.
