Paternity pleasure! Ben affleck gave rare glimpses of his connection to his and Jennifer garner‘s three children over the years.
The actor first became a dad in December 2005 when he and the A.k.a alum welcomed her daughter Violet, six months after getting married in France. The then couple went on to welcome daughter Seraphina and son Samuel in January 2009 and February 2012, respectively, before separating in 2015.
“After much thought and thought, we made the difficult decision to divorce,” the duo wrote in a joint statement at the time. “We are moving forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask for during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private and family affair. Thank you for your understanding.”
The exes, who finalized their divorce in October 2018, are now co-parenting their three children, which is a “work in progress”.
A source exclusively explained to Us weekly in February 2020 that they are “doing the best they can,” saying, “Things are showing up between them, but… they stay on top of things and have a lot of meetings and recordings. They want to be the best possible parents for children. If they have any differences, they keep them to themselves and don’t let them have an impact. They always wear happy faces for children and put their well-being first. “
Three months later, another insider added that the duo had “worked hard to get to a good place” by raising Violet, Seraphina and Samuel.
Affleck and Garner have written touching tributes since breaking up, with the Golden Globe winner wishing the 13 In progress 30 star a Happy Mother’s Day via Instagram in May 2021.
“So happy to share these kids with you,” exclaimed the Oscar-winning actor at the time. “The luckiest parents in the world. Thank you for all the good you do.
Three years earlier, Garner had written in an Instagram post that his daughters and son were “lucky” to have Affleck in their lives, adding: “[I’m glad they] to have a father who looks at them as you look at them and who loves them as you love them. #have a nice day.”
