  1. A house in East Patchogue was burnt down on New Years Eve. The fire started around 6:20 a.m. on Scherger Avenue. The house and a parked car were damaged. No injuries were reported according to police. The fire marshal’s office is working to determine the cause of the blaze, police said. (Patch Patch)
  2. News nearby: Applications for the affordable Gleneagle Green apartment complex in Bellport are available. Hard copies will be accepted at specific offices on January 4. The deadline for submitting applications must be March 7 or postmarked. The lottery will take place on March 21. (LI Advance)
  3. Gabby Petito was recalled by parents on New Years Eve. Gabby Petito’s family and friends took out lights in the sky to mark the first New Year without her.   4. Patchogue Public Library invites the community to celebrate Black History Month. During the months of January and February, reflections of the civil rights movement and African-American genealogy will be discussed in community programs at the Patchogue-Medford Public Library.
